Tax allowances 'providing help for landlords'

Buy-to-let landlords have been urged to take advantage of tax
allowances that are available for making energy-efficient
improvements to properties.
Up to £1,500 per home could be claimed back through the
Landlord Energy Saving Allowance, Paragon EPCs has noted.
Managing director John Heron explained that tenants are more likely
to choose properties with strong energy performance, as they could
benefit from cheaper heating and electricity bills.
He added that legislation requiring buy-to-let investors to provide
an energy performance certificate (EPC) has made the installation
of measures all the more important.
"Landlords have been forced to take the energy performance of their
properties seriously since the EPC requirement came into force," Mr
Heron remarked.
Meanwhile, the Property Investors Network has suggested that the
current climate suits buyers, urging those who are considering
making a purchase to ensure they are paying below market value in
order to protect against the possibility of future price
falls.
